| ZINOVATION WINS AT HURDLE DEBUT. (14th June 2026)
Progressive NZ stayer Zinovation brought up his second Maiden win in a month by securing an impressive Warrnambool Hurdle Maiden win on debut Sunday 14th June on top of his Maiden win at Moe (12th May) on the flat last month. The son of Tarzino was most impressive at Warrnambool at his first try over the hurdles and gave away plenty of race experience to his rivals. Zinovation was given two hurdle trials where he performed well in the lead up to his hurdle debut aided no doubt by the excellent education and schooling given by Champion jumps jockey Steve Pateman. The one concern that we had was meeting some very experienced Metropolitan flat runners so early on in his hurdling career and given that Zinovation was just coming out of Maiden class, the thought was that he may not be quite seasoned enough to be tackling these types of horses so soon. The four-year-old however, who was the baby of the field always travelled well throughout and was given a peach of a ride by Will Gordon in the process. Zinovation jumped well throughout and whilst making a mistake at the third last hurdle which took him off stride and then brought him under pressure, rider Will Gordon balanced him up very quickly and his staying forte came into play and he was able to pick up the tear away leader Morryl Moral in the straight to win running away by two and a half lengths on the line in a very good debut performance. That win takes Zinovation's race record to 11 starts for 2 wins, 3 seconds and 2 thirds for $71,555 in prizemoney and he looks to have an exciting future ahead particularly over the jumps in the Winter months where he absolutely relishes heavy ground! |
