| LE BONSIR-BRAVE WIN AT MOONEE VALLEY.
Lightly raced 5yo Le Bonsir recorded his biggest and bravest win yet when he took out the Mitchelton Wines Hcp at Moonee Valley on Saturday 29th December. In an epic dual Le Bonsir and It Is Written cleared out from the rest of the field at the 800 meter mark and engaged in an epic Our Waverley Star/Bonecrusher type stoush over the ensuing 800 meters with Le Bonsir prevailing winning by a head from the very brave favorite who was heavily backed to win. It was an exciting battle by two very brave horses and a shame that there had to be a loser. The win was some compensation for the many terrific owners of Le Bonsir who had lost their very valuable GROUP winning mare Damselfly who was struck and killed by lightening at Kitchwin Hills Stud recently when in foal to the outstanding stallion in Snitzel.Le Bonsir is the last of 4 foals left by his dual GROUP winning mare in La Bella Dame who also died prematurely through illness so it would be a very cold individual who would not give credit to the syndicate for Saturdays well deserved victory.Le Bonsir ran right up to his very game run at his last start when just collared late by the Peter Moody trained Infinite Energy yet was coming back on the line strongly to just fail. Today’s win was braveness personified as Le Bonsir has been dogged with injuries all throughout his racing career and certainly lacks nothing in courage and the win exemplified the strength and will to win that has been a trait all through the La Bella Dame family.Le Bonsir has now taken his career stats to 13 starts for 5 wins and 4 seconds and now $122,300.00 in prize money.
