| BLACK TYPE SUCCESS FOR LOVEYAMADLY AT MOONEE VALLEY. (13th April 2013)
Crack mare Loveyamadly finally got the reward of Black type in the $120,000 LISTED ADAPT Australia Abell Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday 15th March when she burst through late to win in a driving finish to narrowly score by a short half head from Go The Knuckle and It Is Written. Aided by a 10 out of 10 ride by Mick Price stable rider Dale Smith,Loveyamadly always traveled well in the running, however it was clear that Dale had to be patient to secure the much needed run at the top of the straight. That he did and with his efforts the gap finally opened and whilst hesitating for a split second the grand mare burst through late to win a driving finish. It was a just reward for Dale who has ridden so many winners for United Syndications over the years and for him to secure Black type success for us was personally very gratifying. Dale had ridden our crack filly La Bella Dame some 11 years previous as an apprentice and was replaced by a senior rider going into a GROUP race. Whilst that was tough to cop rather than sulking, Dale had the cheek to ask if he could strap La Bella Dame on the day that she won the GROUP 3 Jumeirah International (the race that he was replaced on) and I made the promise to him then that one day I would repay the gesture of the wonderful character shown whilst obviously disappointed at being replaced on a horse that he did so much work on in the lead up to that race.Loveyamadly has been an outstanding money spinner for her connections having now had 9 starts for 6 wins,2 seconds and a third for $293,388.00 in stakes. With a track record and a Black type success at her last two runs the fun is still not over for the Loveyamadly army of loyal owners as Loveyamadly will now have a short freshen before being prepared for more Black type races in South Australia next month! |
