| TURF PRINCE BOLTS IN TO RECORD SECOND VICTORY. (25th October 2013)
They say racing is a great tester of patience. That saying must have been aimed fair and square at Turf Prince as never has a horse tested the patience of owners as Turf Prince has. Congratulations for perseverance however, go to his great bunch of loyal owners and Turf Prince may just be starting to reward their patience when he absolutely bolted in at Wangaratta Friday 25th October. A modest 0-58 race it indeed was however the way Turf Prince won first up (after two impressive trial wins) which was totally dominant showed a glimpse that he may finally be maturing and switching on as a race horse. A NZ $110,000 purchase from the Waikato draft in 2010 Turf Prince eventually won his maiden last prep over 2400 meters but continually showed immaturity signs all through with his condition continually falling away. His race pattern was also that of an immature horse continually being asked to improve all throughout his races. This time in however he has looked a totally different proposition, keen to improve and race with only minimal jockey encouragement. Turf Prince settled second outside the leader Curlashot Friday before taking over on the point of the turn and winning running away by 5 lengths in impressive fashion. Turf Prince won’t be rushed along and will be looking for another easy kill in the Country over the Melbourne Cup carnival for confidence purposes before coming back down to Melbourne to tackle harder races and now that he looks to have matured should continue to improve as he gets deeper into this prep. Great credit goes to John and Chris Ledger who have prepared Turf Prince this time around and have done an outstanding job in training this horse “Country style” which has obviously agreed with the horse. Congratulations to all owners! |
