| SECOND STAKES WIN FOR LE BONSIR. (23rd August 2015)
Our mighty warrior Le Bonsir showed that there is plenty of life of him just yet and showed that you CAN teach and old dog new tricks when racing at the 1000 meters for the very first time in 37 starts scored one of his major wins in the LISTED and time honored Norman Carlyon Stakes at Moonee Valley Saturday 22nd August. It is unbelievable really that being a sprinter Le Bonsir had never raced previously before at the 1000 meters, only racing at the 1100 meters where he had 8 starts for 2 wins,2 seconds (Including a GROUP 3 Second in the Sir John Monash Stakes in 2014) and a third. Nevertheless, given an absolutely 10 out of 10 ride by Damian Oliver who assessed that as there was plenty of speed in the race (particularly on his inside) electing to take a sit and ride for a bit of luck was the best option and knowing that he was on the class runner fortunately all unfolded as planned and Damian took the gap that opened just before straightening and Le Bonsir burst through to score very impressively by a length. His time of 58.34 was excellent as is his record at the track that he loves in Moonee Valley which is 11 starts for now 4 wins,1 second and 2 thirds and an overall record of 38 starts for 9 wins,9 seconds and 5 thirds for $563,290- a truly durable and classy horse he has been for his syndicate. Le Bonsir will be kept to similar races in the weeks ahead and warm and heartfelt congratulations go again to his mighty owners who have enjoyed an extraordinary ride with such a tough and honest horse-We love you Bonny! |
