SLEEPY CAT AWAKES WITH MAIDEN VICTORY.

SLEEPY CAT AWAKES WITH MAIDEN VICTORY..  SLEEPY CAT AWAKES WITH MAIDEN VICTORY..

It has taken a while and plenty of patience for her loyal band of owners however Sleepy Cat finally put it all together rewarding her Syndicate with a decisive 2 length win at Bairnsdale on Tuesday 13th December. Aided by a 10 out of 10 ride by Jake Noonan, Sleepy Cat was allowed to settle around midfield in the run and always travelled well. Jake started to sneak around the field and make his move at the 600 meter mark and Sleepy Cat showed a nice turn of foot at the top of the straight to have the leaders covered and came away at the finish to win by over 2 lengths on a widening margin. A daughter of World Champion Turf Miler of 2009 in Rip Van Winkle, Sleepy Cat was purchased as a weanling from Wayne and Vicky Pike’s Longlands Stud at Cambridge and always needed time with praise being given to her Syndicate of owners who have watched her develop although not without some frustration along the way. Now that she has tasted victory she has every opportunity to go on with it with a rise in distance to 2400 meters and quite possibly beyond holding no fear. Sleepy Cat is a lovely, now mature sound 4YO mare who can handle both wet and dry surfaces and will be well placed to improve on her race record as her future racing career develops!
