| MISS DAMITA DELIVERS IN STYLE.
Promising 3YO Miss Damita made her race track debut at Echuca on Sunday 11th March and delivered in style, easily winning the Border Inn Fillies/Mares Maiden over 1400 meters and giving a clear indication that better races may lay ahead for her. A beautiful Daughter of Ocean Park, where the progeny seem to appreciate time to develop, this filly has been no different and has also been typical of the breed and not rushed by Mick Price throughout her time with him but rather allowed to develop at her own leisure, Sunday’s debut and winning result was a glowing testament to that approach. A beautiful 10 out of 10 ride by GROUP 1 winning jockey Michael Walker, who allowed Miss Damita to jump well and seeing that there was speed coming across from the wider draws elected to box seat with her and had the filly always travelling well. Coming to the turn, Michael elected to come off the fence to chase down the Robbie Griffiths trained and leader No Alibi, and that she did, running away in the concluding stages to win by a widening two and a quarter lengths on the line and put a smile on not only owners faces but also the punters faces given that she started joint race favorite. Miss Damita was an absolute stand out filly at the 2015 NZ Karaka Weanling sales and was purchased by United Syndications for NZ $58,000. She presented as an extremely athletic filly with a faultless attitude (which remains with her today) which is vital, given that she is out of a full sister to VRC Derby winner Kibbutz and is expected to journey out in trip over the coming runs and as she matures as a latter 3YO and into her 4YO year!
