| SCORPIUS WINS IMPRESSIVELY AT MOE DEBUT. (3rd June 2019)
Promising 2YO Colt Scorpius made an impressive race day debut, coming from second last early before unleashing a barnstorming finish to win the Moe Optical Maiden over 1100 meters at Moe Monday 3rd June. Virtually last out after missing the start, jockey Zac Spain had to revert to plan B when the initial plans went out the door and due credit must go to Zac, who never panicked at any stage throughout and rode beyond his years to ride a very mature race on Scorpius who was having his first start. Zac made nice ground sneaking along the rails throughout, before extricating Scorpius to the middle of the track where the better going was, and the 2YO let down with a most impressive sprint in the straight to win drawing away on the line by half a length from Em Em D’ar with Equaletta finishing 3rd. It was pleasing to see Scorpius take his excellent track work and trial form to the races and to win with such authority. He is a highly thought of Colt within the Mick Price and Michael Kent (Jnr) stable, and today’s win should see significant natural improvement after just one run and looks to have a very bright future ahead. Scorpius was a $140,000 purchase from the Manx Park Draft at the 2018 William Inglis Sydney Classic Sale and will either race on OR have a short spell with Spring racing in mind. Whichever way eventuates, Scorpius is an exciting horse for the future and we congratulate and thank all of the owners for the support and I personally, wish everyone the very best of luck with him! |
