THE FLOWERS BLOOM IN SPRING..  THE FLOWERS BLOOM IN SPRING..

Spring is a time when horses need to stand up and announce themselves to the world and that was never truer at Sale on Wednesday 6th October when Bring Me Flowers recorded an impressive win at start number four in the 24th October Ladbroke Sale Cup Maiden over 1400 meters. Jumping from an outside gate and beginning well, jockey Patrick Moloney showed great initiative to click up on Bring Me Flowers in what is a short run to the first turn from the 1400 meter barriers and landed in the absolute plum one out one spot shortly after. From there Patrick was able to have a smooth run in transit behind the leader Foxeto who went quick and at the 600 meter mark was stalking the race favourite From Pantherland who settled second. It was clear at the turn that Foxeto was waving the white flag and From Pantherland took over, however Patrick cruised up behind that horse and on straightening was clearly going the better. Bring Me Flowers hit the front half way down the straight and really floated over the ensuing 200 meters not really knowing what to do but proved too strong to win by three quarters of a length in a very impressive effort from both horse and jockey. Bring Me Flowers has had little luck in her first three race starts with inexperience and a touch of waywardness being a major contributing factor, however after some impressive track work at Caulfield is now starting to put it all together on race day and does look a promising filly in the making with further natural improvement to come. Bring Me Flowers was a $120,000 purchase at the 2020 Gold Coast Magic Millions out of Royston and Catriona Murphy’s Sledmere Stud draft and has an extremely commercial family behind her coming from the highly successful Procrastinate/Laisserfaire family which is all important when she heads to stud in the years ahead!
