An explosive son of leading speed sire Written Tycoon, Written By displayed his precocity by winning his first four starts in succession highlighted by a dominant two and a half-length victory in the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m).
Racing.com chief caller Matt Hill best summed the performance up stating; "Drew Barrier 18 of 20, started favourite, sat three wide no cover and won by over 2.5 lengths. He's put an exclamation mark on who is the best 2yo colt in Australia!"
Prepared by Grahame Begg, who also trained his sire Written Tycoon, Written By was able to overcome an outside gate in the prestigious Blue Diamond to race on pace and power away from his rivals with a blistering turn of foot in a career defining performance.
Sent to Sydney for the Golden Slipper, Written By was an easy winner of the Group II ATC Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) and then was the first colt home in the Golden Slipper behind Estijaab, Oohood and Sunlight.
A stunning chestnut bred and retained to race by Hall of Fame trainer Neville Begg and his family, Written By is very true to the Written Tycoon type and comes from the same female family as Champion sire Pins, so ticks every box in terms of pedigree, type and performance.

Written By stood his first season at a fee of $24,750 inc GST.
The fillies pedigree is one of the exciting things about her and doing a bit of research prior to this sale enabled me I think to put the percentages into our favour to find a potential Black type horse. WRITTEN BY was a stallion that we were keen on to be buying into this year in his first crop and to be perfectly honest why wouldn’t you be! The fillies Dam is the Redoute’s Choice Mare Peltier and Redoute’s Choice Mares, when matched to WRITTEN BY’S Sire WRITTEN TYCOON have on 35 occasions produced 27 winners and a Stakes winner in TELEPLAY so it is abundantly clear that the cross works! The other extremely important point to note is that the first 4 dams have produced 6 Stakes horses, COME FLY WITH ME, SIZZLEFLY, MARITESS, FLYING JESS, BELDARRA and DINKY FLYER (NZ) and THEY ARE ALLFILLIES!!. There is not a lot more that you need to know when you are purchasing a filly when the family has a proven history of producing Stakes fillies combined with the knowledge that the cross works and she is by a Champion 2YO of his generation combined with his Sire being a Champion stallion today.
