SCORPIUS SHOWS THAT HE HAS A TOUCH OF CLASS..  SCORPIUS SHOWS THAT HE HAS A TOUCH OF CLASS..

Our lovely Deep Field Colt Scorpius, certainly showed that a Metropolitan win was not far away after a luckless run at Sandown at his previous run being defeated by the very smart Mare in Neighbourhood by doing exactly just that, defying all challengers in the straight and winning in impressive fashion at Sandown on Dec 11. Scorpius really savaged the line at his first run this time in putting the writing on the wall for his next run and taking luck completely out of the equation saw him win basically as he liked by just on 2 lengths on the line defeating the David Hayes and Tom Dabernig trained Matador with Montaser finishing third. Whilst not intending to lead, jockey Michael Dee was instructed to be positive and to ride Scorpius as the best horse in the race, particularly being a short price favorite and with jockeys looking at each other in the first few hundred meters of the race Michael decided to take the initiative and worked Scorpius over to lead. From that point the 3YO Colt travelled well and gave a really nice kick in the straight to win impressively on the line. A $140,000 purchase from Manx Park at the 2018 Sydney Classic sales, Scorpius has now earned $60,050 for connections after 2 wins from just 4 career starts to date and is well placed to be repaying that price with interest if he continues to progress. He is just a lovely sound Colt who we hope will stack up to some better racing in the Autumn, but to continue his transition and learning process such that Mick Price and Michael Kent take these horse through, is now anticipated to run in a lovely $135,000 SUPER VOBIS BM 70 over 1400 meters for 3YOs at his home track Caulfield on Boxing Day. He is certainly a horse to follow, and we sincerely hope in the future that he can emulate his Dam Scorpio Queen, who herself was a dual Stakes Winner AND GROUP placed mare!
